Discouragement / Encouragement

I’ve been reading about Moses in Exodus recently. I found some encouragement there. In chapter 3 of Exodus God speaks to Moses from the burning bush. He (God) sends Moses back to Egypt with no one but his wife and kids. Just them and in chapter 3 verse 12 God said He (God) would also go with them. Go back to Egypt and bring Israel out, God said. I find this point pretty amazing all by itself.

So Moses, his family and God go to Egypt….. and in chapter 6…. this is the thing that stuck out to me…. in Exodus 6:9-12 it says, Moses reported everything to the Israelites but they did not believe Moses because of their discouragement and cruel bondage.

The very people Moses was sent to lead out didn’t even believe they could be delivered because of discouragement and cruel bondage.

However we all know the story. Israel did get delivered because it was the plan of God. Up in verse 5 God says, He heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians were enslaving, and he remembered HIS COVENANT.

God redeemed them with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgement. (v.6)

I will take them as my own people says the Lord. (v.7)

I will bring them to the land that I promised to Abraham (v.8)

Wow, they were so discouraged they didn’t even believe it themselves and yet God kept His promise and did it. He brought them all out of bondage. Wow, wow, wow, God keeps his promises. And now for all of us….

Romans 5: 6-8 You see, just at the right time, when we were still powerless. Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were yet still sinners, Christ died for us.

I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins, and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.

Remember no matter how discouraged you may feel, God keeps his promises.

Repent and walk with Him, He will bring you out. Julia
